The first joint meeting of the Women’s Justice Movement and the Afghanistan Rainbow Organization was held under the title “From Introduction to Solidarity: A Step Toward Joint Cooperation.” The meeting aimed to foster mutual understanding, introduce the activities and capacities of both organizations, explore shared goals in human rights, exchange experiences and perspectives, and identify opportunities for cooperation and joint initiatives in the future.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ada Barez introduced the Women’s Justice Movement and its activities. Shahla Arefi, a member of the Movement’s leadership board, then spoke about its goals and activities.
Following this, Niloufar, Director of Programs Development and Communications at the Afghanistan Rainbow Organization, introduced the organization and its work. Hoda Khamosh, General Coordinator of the Women’s Justice Movement, then delivered remarks on the importance of human rights activities and cooperation among human rights organizations.
Another part of the meeting was dedicated to hearing the experiences and challenges of Ada Barez, a transgender woman and active member of the Women’s Justice Movement. Her experiences provided an opportunity to better understand the challenges and difficulties faced by members of the LGBTQ+ community. Listening to these experiences formed part of the broader discussions on the importance of upholding human rights, equality, and combating discrimination.
Zahra Mosavi, head of the Cultural Committee of the Women’s Justice Movement, also spoke about continuing joint meetings and organizing awareness-raising webinars in cooperation with the Afghanistan Rainbow Organization. She expressed her happiness over the formal commencement of joint programs between the two organizations and emphasized the importance of sustaining their cooperation.
During the question-and-answer session and exchange of views, members of both organizations raised questions and shared their perspectives. They discussed shared objectives, existing capacities, and opportunities for cooperation in human rights activities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ada Barez presented a summary of the discussions. The meeting provided an opportunity for the two organizations to become more familiar with each other, listen to diverse experiences, and explore avenues for joint cooperation.
The beginning of this collaboration can pave the way for continued dialogue, awareness-raising programs, and expanded joint activities in support of human rights, equality, and justice.
